Bexar Appraisal District - Total Tax Values and Parcels
The oldest county in Texas was valued at $314.35 billion and weighed in at 774,100 parcels in 2024, both records. A mix of old and new, Bexar County is a great look at both Texas’ past and future. Unfortunately, both of those aspects are in jeopardy over inflated property taxes. Bexar Appraisal District (BCAD) has unleashed property taxes so blatantly false that all tax protests succeeded a combined 95%. Don’t miss your chance to escape BCAD’s unfair taxes when you enroll in O’Connor’s Property Tax Protection Program™ today. Bexar Appraisal District Tax Parcels
Divided into 774,100 parcels, Bexar County is a mighty beast that the Bexar Appraisal District (BCAD) has to tame every year in order to calculate property tax bills. With only 77 appraisers for the whole of the San Antonio area, BCAD is often forced to make some less-than-educated guesses when it comes to calculating property values. The only way a taxpayer can defend themselves is to protest their property taxes.
Every Texan has a constitutional right to protect themselves from overzealous or unfair taxes, a right that O’Connor has fought for since 1974. O’Connor is one of the most far-reaching property tax consulting companies in America, and is based in Houston, Texas. With offices around the Lone Star State, O’Connor knows how to get the best savings on your property taxes.
BCAD Total Parcels
With 774,100 parcels, Bexar County is over eight times larger than the typical Texas county with 90,622 parcels. Spread across San Antonio and many other towns and cities, Bexar County has been the centerpiece of Texas for many centuries. This importance has not dwindled in 2025, and Bexar remains one of the most populus and prosperous counties in Texas. BCAD certainly have their hands full trying to tie it all together, and they rarely manage to get the value of everything right.

BCAD Total Market Value of Property
Bexar County was valued at $314.35 billion in 2024, more than double what it was a decade ago. The area may not have shot through the roof like trendy places like Travis or Collin Counties, but this steady growth could certainly be more sustainable. The county is older than Texas itself and has many legacy properties that have been in family hands for generations. It is these properties that are the most at-risk from inaccurate BCAD taxes, since unfair valuations could render them suddenly unaffordable.
Single family homes were valued at $179.92 billion in 2024, making up over half of all value in the area. Commercial properties took the second spot with $66.71 billion in value. While it is great to see a classic county grow, it is obvious that there is a lot of overvaluing done by BCAD. The most obvious evidence for this is the ease of property tax disputes, be they informal, formal, or judicial appeal. Informal appeals succeeded over 99% of the time, judicial appeals at 94%, or formal appeals at over 92%. This should convince all residents to protest their taxes moving forward.
